A not guilty plea was entered on his behalf by a public defender appointed for Hudgins by Barren District Judge Gabe Pendleton, who set a preliminary hearing for Monday.

Hudgins was arrested after a crash in which the 2004 Pontiac he was driving left the right shoulder of Pritchardsville Road around 9:20 a.m. Saturday and struck a culvert.

Two passengers were thrown from the vehicle before it rolled over and came to rest on its top, according to the Barren County Sheriff’s Office.

One of the passengers, Elizabeth Walden, 22, of Cave City, was pronounced dead at the scene. The other passenger, who has not been identified by the sheriff’s office, was treated at T.J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow and released.

Hudgins was not injured in the crash.

According to an arrest citation written by BCSO Deputy Adam Bow, law enforcement arrived at the scene to find Hudgins still in the driver’s seat of the vehicle and wearing a seat belt.

Hudgins admitted to using methamphetamine before the collision and was “unable to sit still and (was) very jittery” while talking with Bow, the deputy wrote in the arrest citation.

A search warrant was executed for the collection of a blood sample from Hudgins.

Walden is identified in the arrest citation as Hudgins’ girlfriend.
