Beals garners Mid-South Conference Player of the Week honors

Campbellsville sophomore midfielder Taylor Beals (Warren East Class of 2015) was named the Mid-South Conference Player of the Week on Monday.
Beals helped the Lady Tigers to a 1-1 record last week and scored in each of Campbellsville’s contests. Beals scored one of the three goals in a 3-0 victory over Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.), while scoring the lone goal for Campbellsville in a 2-1 loss to Dalton State (Ga.).
On the season, Beals is tied for the Lady Tigers’ team lead in scoring.
Campbellsville (5-1) returns to action Saturday at home against Trinity International (Ill.).

Spalding University sophomore midfielder Lauren Locke (Greenwood Class of 2015) has helped the Golden Eagles get off to a 4-0 start this season.
Locke notched an assist in Spalding’s 5-0 road win over Defiance (Ohio) on Sunday, then got another assist in the Golden Eagles’ 7-0 win over Berea College on Wednesday.
Spalding (4-0) is back in action Sept. 13 at Asbury.

Carleton (Minn.) College senior Riley Phelps (Bowling Green Class of 2013) is off to a red-hot start for the Knights’ men’s soccer team.
Phelps tallied a pair of goals and an assist in Carleton’s season-opening 3-0 win over Minnesota-Morris on Sept. 1, then tallied the Knights’ lone goal three days later in a 1-1 double overtime tie against North Central (Ill.) College. On Wednesday, Phelps earned the assist on the game-winning goal in overtime that lifted Carleton to a 2-1 OT win at Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa.
Carleton (2-1-1) is back in action at Crown College on Sept. 13 in St. Bonifacius, Minn.
