Western Kentucky’s defense held Georgia State without a single shot Sunday afternoon, while goals from Chandler Backes, Megan Morris and Christina Bragado paced the Lady Toppers to a 4-0 win over the visiting Panthers at the WKU Soccer Complex.

Backes, who currently leads Conference USA in both goals scored (five) and points (11) this season, fired a pair of first-half strikes off the bench for WKU (3-2), and Morris notched her first goal of the season off a feed from Shayna Dheel to open the scoring in the 20th minute.

Bragado’s strike in the 68th minute was the freshman’s first career goal and the lone score of the second half.

Defensively, WKU played three of its four goalkeepers, with Allison Leone playing the full first half before giving way to Jenna Rohlin and local product Keely Vincent, who made her first appearance at WKU.

The Lady Toppers held a 20-0 advantage in shots.

WKU will continue its homestand on Thursday as the program hosts LSU. Last season, the Lady Toppers fell 4-1 to the Tigers in Baton Rouge, La.
