Hot Rods blank Fort Wayne

The Bowling Green Hot Rods equaled the franchise record for wins in a season with a 7-0 victory over Fort Wayne (Ind.) on Saturday at Bowling Green Ballpark.

Blake Bivens allowed two hits with six strikeouts over six innings of work for Bowling Green (82-55 overall, 45-23 second half) to improve to 8-4 on the season. Bivens has worked at least five innings in all 15 starts of the season.

David Olmedo-Barrera and Kewby Meyer had two hits each for the Hot Rods, while Jake Cronenworth had one hit in his return to Bowling Green. Cronenworth was promoted to Port Charlotte (Fla.) in July, but was sent back to the Hot Rods on Saturday to take the place of injured infielder Michael Russell.

Bowling Green and Fort Wayne will continue the series at 6:35 p.m. on Sunday.
