Western Kentucky seniors Forrest Lamp and Taywan Taylor were named Wednesday to the College Football America Mid-Major Starting Lineup, which is the CFA’s version of an All-America Team.
The Hilltoppers were one of six teams to garner multiple selections and one of 19 total schools represented. WKU joined Marshall and Old Dominion as Conference USA programs to earn players on the Preseason All-America Team.
Lamp produced another stalwart seasons on the left side of WKU’s offensive line in 2015. He was named a Second Team All-American by ProFootballFocus.com and the top tackle from the Group of 5 leagues by the publication, while also earning a place on the All-C-USA first team.
As a junior, Lamp did not allow a tackle and just 11 quarterback pressures, while anchoring a line that finished the year No. 19 nationally in fewest sacks allowed with just 16.
Taylor in 2015 became just the second 1,000-yard receiver in program history and set single-season records for receiving yards (1,467), receptions (86) and touchdown catches (17). He also set the career record for receiving yards (2,504), 100-yard receiving games (nine) and touchdown catches (24).
Taylor was a consensus All-C-USA first teamer and was named a Second Team All-American by ProFootballFocus.com.
Lamp and Taylor were both named to the Preseason All-Conference USA Team this summer and have been nominated on multiple national award watch lists. Lamp earned spots on the Outland Trophy and the Wuerffel Trophy watch lists, while Taylor is on the preseason lists for the Maxwell and Biletnikoff Awards.
