Hot Rods extend win streak to seven

The Bowling Green Hot Rods made it seven straight wins with an 8-2 victory at Lansing (Mich.) on Thursday.

Bowling Green (63-45 overall, 26-13 second half) continues to set the pace in the Midwest League’s Eastern Division playoff push, holding a nine-game advantage with 31 games remaining.

Kewby Meyer paced the offense with four hits and three runs scored. Manny Sanchez had three hits and two RBIs, while David Olmedo-Barrera had two hits and two RBIs. The Hot Rods are averaging eight runs a game in the first six games of the current seven-game road trip, outscoring opponents 48-15.

Genesis Cabrera earned his first win in seven starts to improve to 8-4 on the season, allowing two runs and four hits with three strikeouts in five innings of work. Roel Ramirez worked the final four innings to earn his second save of the season.

Bowling Green will try to complete the first road trip of six or more games without a loss when the Lansing series concludes at 6:05 p.m. on Friday. Right-hander Tyler Brashears (5-0, 2.02) is scheduled to start for the Hot Rods, with lefty Ryan Borucki (7-3, 2.73) the scheduled starter for Lansing.
