Hot Rods roll to fourth straight win

The Bowling Green Hot Rods won their third straight game to start the series and fourth straight game overall with a 11-6 victory Monday night against the Dayton Dragons at Fifth Third Field in Dayton, Ohio.
The Hot Rods got a three-run homer from outfielder Manny Sanchez against Dragons starting pitcher Tony Santillan as part of a four-run second inning to take an early lead.

Bowling Green got a two-run bases-loaded single from catcher Brett Sullivan as part of a three-run fourth inning and then tacked on two more runs in the fifth inning to take a commanding 9-1 lead.
Despite giving up three runs in the bottom of the fifth, Hot Rods starter Eduar Lopez improved to 3-0. Lopez gave up five hits, four runs (three earned) while striking out six in a victory.
The Hot Rods also got three quality innings from Armando Bastardo and righty Tim Ingram notched his fourth save of the year by getting Bowling Green out of a bases-loaded jam in the ninth inning.
The Hot Rods tacked on their final two runs in the eighth on a two-run double by shortstop Peter Maris, who finished the game a homer shy of the cycle, going 3-for-4 with two runs batted in and two runs scored.
The Hot Rods have now won four straightand have won the first three games of the seven-game road trip. The contest marked a season-long nine-inning game, lasting 3 hours, 40 minutes.
Bowling Green is also a season-high 15 games over .500 (60-45). It is the first time the Hot Rods are 15 games over .500 since the last game of the 2013 season.

Bowling Green will continue a week-long road trip and try to sweep a four-game series against Dayton on Tuesday. The Hot Rods will send Michael Velasquez to the mound, while the Dragons will counter with Austin Orewiler.
