Hot Rods blank Dayton

The Bowling Green Hot Rods capped the best July in franchise history with a 6-0 win at Dayton (Ohio) on Sunday.
Jose Mujica tossed six shutout innings for his fifth straight quality start to help Bowling Green (59-45 overall, 22-13 second half) finish 19-8 in July – eclipsing the previous best mark of 19-9 set in 2012.

The Hot Rods are also 14 games over .500 for the first time since the last game of the 2013 season.
Mujica improved to 6-3, scattering four hits with two strikeouts and three walks. Yoel Espinal earned his first save with three innings of one-hit ball.
David Rodriguez had two hits and two RBIs. Kevin Padlo finished with two hits and a run scored.
The series will continue at 6 p.m. CDT Monday with right-hander Eduar Lopez (2-0, 0.73) scheduled to face Dayton right-hander Tony Santillian, who will be making his Dragons debut.
