In conjunction with multimedia partner CBS, Western Kentucky athletics launched an updated www.WKUSports.com on Wednesday and released new Hilltopper, Lady Topper and WKU wordmarks.

The new wordmarks will live alongside the red towel, which remains WKU’s primary athletic mark. WKU’s new wordmarks are a part of the school’s mission in 2016-17 to “Respect the past. Defend the present. Own the future,” an athletic department release said.

The updated wordmarks replace existing wordmarks with a sleeker, more refined look, the release said. They represent a natural evolution as WKU moves forward following its historic first two seasons in Conference USA, which have included a league-high 14 conference championships – double the next closest league school, the release said.
