Bowling Green is the next stop a group of Western Kentucky University students plan to make on a roughly 3,600-mile journey to raise money and awareness for Alzheimer’s research.

The Bike4Alz team, made up of fraternity brothers of Phi Gamma Delta or Fiji, is raising $100,000 for its cause this year.

The group will return to Bowling Green on Wednesday after traveling through Washington, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, Kansas, Missouri and Illinois. The group’s goal is to ride from Seattle to Virginia Beach, Va.

A street festival is planned from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Fountain Square Park where attendees can meet the group, eat and hear live music, among other festivities. The group is also planning events in Louisville on Saturday and in Lexington on Sunday and Monday.
