- Virginia announced Monday that it had hired Western Kentucky women's basketball coach Katherine Graham to the same position.
Virginia announced Monday the hiring of Western Kentucky assistant coach Katherine Graham to the same position with the Cavaliers.
Graham coached one season at WKU on Michelle Clark-Heard’s staff, working as one of the Lady Toppers’ primary recruiters. She came to WKU last summer after serving as an assistant at Lipscomb in 2014-15.
Graham was a four-year letter winner and a three-year starter at LSU, reaching the Final Four in 2008. She was the 25th player in program history to finish with 500 career rebounds (513) while also finishing her career with 295 assists and 713 points.
Following her collegiate playing career, she spent one season playing professional basketball in Iceland before heading to Georgia, where she spent two seasons as a graduate assistant.
“I am so grateful to be able to announce the hiring of Katherine Graham as a member of our UVA coaching staff,” Virginia coach Joanne Boyle said. “Katherine brings a vibrant, youthful energy and has been tagged as one of the best up-and-coming coaches in the business.”
Graham’s departure leaves an opening on the WKU staff. Associate head coach Greg Collins and assistant Melissa Kolbe fill the other two full-time assistant roles.
