BG wins fifth straight

David Olmedo-Barrera had four hits, including his first home run of the season, as the Bowling Green Hot Rods beat Fort Wayne (Ind.) 6-2 on Saturday at Fort Wayne, for a fifth straight victory.
Olmedo-Barrera drove in three runs, two coming on his homer in the fifth that gave the Hot Rods a 5-2 lead.
David Rodriguez finished with three hits for Bowling Green (36-32). Brett Sullivan, Zacrey Law and Jake Cronenworth had one RBI each.
Michael Velasquez earned his second straight win to improve to 2-6 on the season.
The left-hander went six innings, allowing two unearned runs and seven hits while striking out five.
Diego Castillo tossed two scoreless innings and Armando Bastardo finished it off with a scoreless ninth inning.
The Hot Rods will wrap up the series in Fort Wayne at 12:05 p.m. CDT on Sunday in the final game of the first half before the All-Star break.
Right-hander Roel Ramirez (2-5, 5.40) is scheduled to make the start for the Hot Rods.
Fort Wayne’s starter is to be determined.
