Hot Rods bounce Fort Wayne

The Bowling Green Hot Rods eclipsed a season-high in runs with a 14-7 victory at Fort Wayne (Ind.) on Thursday.
Bowling Green (34-32) won for the fifth time in six games, scoring the most runs since plating 15 at West Michigan on May 26, 2014.

The Hot Rods scored three runs each in the first and the eighth innings and scored four times in the third inning and seventh inning. Joe McCarthy had three runs, two hits and two RBIs to lead the offense. Michael Russell had two hits and three runs, while Angel Moreno finished with two hits.
Blake Bivens earned the win to improve to 3-1. Bivens went five innings, allowing three runs on four hits with four walks and five strikeouts.
The series continues at 6:05 p.m. CDT Friday with right-hander Taylor Hawkins (2-5, 3.91) facing Fort Wayne right-hander J.C. Cosme (7-2, 2.64).
