Students attending some Warren County Public Schools will be able to continue developing job skills after the district’s board of education renewed an agreement with a national nonprofit organization.

Through its Kentucky branch, Jobs for America’s Graduates will give the district $10,000 in two equal installments in August and January. Superintendent Rob Clayton told the Daily News that the renewal continues a relationship that’s been in place since he’s been in his position.

Clayton said the money contributes to the salary of an employee who works with dozens of students in the district. He said students at Warren Central High School, Henry F. Moss Middle School and Lost River Elementary and Warren Elementary schools have benefited from the grant.

“It helps students improve their soft skills and encourages them to perform well in school,” he said. “As students get older, it helps them find jobs and college opportunities as well.”

Board member Don Basham also appreciated the grant.

“That means that’s money that the district doesn’t have to spend,” he said, adding it saves taxpayers, too.
