Holy Spirit Catholic Church is having its fourth annual SpiritFest from 4 to 9 p.m. Saturday with several activities for children to enjoy throughout the evening.

The event at 4754 Smallhouse Road is open to the public with food prices starting around $3 and a flat fee of $7.50 for 14 different games with the option of playing as many times as desired. There will be inflatables available for a one-time price of $5. Some of the games will involve basketball, frog leap, ping pong, corn hole, golf, go carts, ring toss and more.

Along with food and games, the festival will host 13 vendors including Kona Ice, Popworks, The Sacred Strand Rosaries, Mary Kay, Unique Makeup, Holy Spirit Movie Ministry, McCoy Grief Counseling, 31 Totes, Holy Spirit Quilters, Plants by Brian, Holy Spirit Labyrinth and Pampered Chef. Rockin B Carriage will also offer $5 rides around the property.

Church member Sandra Earl said Holy Spirit started planning for the event in February and it’s changed a little bit over the years. She said they’re trying something new with the one price for all the games. They are also having a cake booth this year and a SpiritFest Quilt raffle with tickets on sale now in the parish office for $1 at the church. The winner will be drawn at the festival.

The event was first started as a parish picnic andas  a fundraiser event, but it turned into a picnic to bring the community together for everyone to enjoy, she said.

“I think it builds community relationships and it shows that we’re willing to reach out to others and let them know a little bit more about our church and to show that we’re community oriented,” Earl said.

Holy Spirit deacon Matthew Keyser said that instead of doing a fall festival, the church decided to do a spring/summer event in combination with the Parish picnic and this year they’re hoping to get the word out more about the activities being offered at the church.

“We’re hoping the community will come out to join us for fun, food and games. There seems to be a popularity when it comes to these events and we’re hoping people will come out and join us,” Keyser said.
