Principal Mike Johnson of Oakland Elementary School notified staff Wednesday that he’ll be stepping down from his job.
Morgan Watson, spokeswoman for Warren County Public Schools, said Johnson wants to spend more time with his family and seeks to return to the district as a teacher.
Watson said Johnson’s last day will be July 1, but said a replacement will be chosen by the school’s site-based decision making council, which are made up of parents and school faculty and staff.
A graduate of Warren East High School, Johnson earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees at Western Kentucky University. He was named principal of the school in 2007 after having served as assistant principal.
