Jackson wins C-USA outdoor track honors

Western Kentucky’s Jenessa Jackson took home her first career Conference USA Outdoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week honor Tuesday.
The junior was recognized as C-USA’s Female Field Athlete of the Week after turning in a big effort at the Memphis Tiger Invitational, notching a pair of top-five showings in the hammer throw and shot put events.
The Marietta, Ga., native placed third in the hammer throw with a career-best effort of 56.88 meters. The throw currently ranks first in C-USA and 85th nationally. Jackson also turned in a fifth-place showing in the shot put with an effort of 13.92 meters.
