Tigers’ Johnson takes second in Mid-South discus competition

Campbellsville senior Aaron Johnson (Logan County Class of 2012) led a solid contingent of former area athletes competing in Friday’s opening day of competition in the Mid-South Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships hosted by University of the Cumberlands in Williamsburg.
Johnson placed second in the discus with a top throw 38.87 meters.
Campbellsville senior Wade Harris (South Warren Class of 2012) took sixth in the 10,000-meter run with a time of 36 minutes, 26.66 seconds. Tigers teammate Ross Allen (South Warren Class of 2014) was seventh in 36.53.91.
Also for the Tigers, senior Clayton Embry (Butler County Class of 2012) finished seventh in the javelin with a throw of 38.87 meters and qualified for Saturday’s 110-meter hurdles. Campbellsville was second in the team standings behind Lindsey Wilson at the end of Friday’s competition.
In the women’s meet, junior Allyson Davis (Barren County Class of 2013) helped the Blue Raiders to a fourth-place finish in the 3,200-meter relay with a time of 10:10.79.
Campbellsville senior Maggie Calvert (Allen County-Scottsville Class of 2012) contributed a leg in the Tigers’s sixth-place finish in the 3,200 relay. Lindsey Wilson led the women’s meet and Campbellsville was second after Friday’s competition.
The Mid-South championship meet will conclude on Saturday.
