Cline earns tournament win in relief for Campbellsville

Campbellsville junior left-handed pitcher Dexter Cline (Greenwood Class of 2013) came on in relief and earned the victory in Friday’s 13-9 victory over Shawnee State in the opening round of the Mid-South Conference Baseball Tournament.
Campbellsville earlier won the first game in the best-of-three series, and Cline’s victory clinched series for the Tigers. Cline, who improved his season record to 4-0, provided 2 2/3 innings of perfect pitching with no base runners allowed while he was on the mound.
Shawnee State redshirt sophomore outfielder Andrew Vanthournout (South Warren Class of 2013) was 1 for 4 with an RBI and a run scored in the season-ending loss for the Bears.
Campbellsville advances to next week’s Mid-South Conference tournament final round, a double-elimination format scheduled for Friday through Sunday at Bowling Green Ballpark.

Kentucky Wesleyan junior left-hander Austin Tibbs (Greenwood Class of 2013) was a the hard-luck loser despite providing a quality start for the Panthers in a 4-1 loss to Cedarville (Ohio) on Friday in Owensboro.
Tibbs went the distance in the seven-inning contest, the second game of a doubleheader. Tibbs allowed four runs (two earned) off eight hits and two walks. He struck out six batters.
Kentucky Wesleyan (32-13 overall, 17-3 in Great Midwest Athletic Conference) is back in action May 6 with a doubleheader at G-MAC rival Trevecca Nazarene (Tenn.).
