MTSU’s Duncan fires 75 in opening round of C-USA men’s golf championship

Middle Tennessee junior Drake Duncan (South Warren Class of 2013) fired a first-round 75 to help the Blue Raiders to a seventh-place standing Sunday after the opening round of the Conference USA men’s golf tournament championship at Texarkana Country Club in Texarkana, Ark.

Duncan’s 3-over par opening round was good for 27th overall in the tournament. Middle Tennessee fired a combined 296 on the day.

The C-USA tournament resumes Monday on the par 72, 6,969-yard Texarkana County Club Course.

A pair of former area golf standouts helped the Rose-Hulman (Ind.) women’s golf team to a third-place finish Sunday in the Grizzly Spring Invitational at Hillview Country Club in Franklin, Ind.

Rose-Hulman sophomore Ashton Foushee (Glasgow Class of 2014) fired a two-day total of 94-88–182 to finish 15th in the tournament.

Fightin’ Engineers junior Taylor King (Allen County-Scottsville Class of 2013) cut 14 strokes off her opening round to finish the tournament with a two-day 105-91–196. King finished in 22nd place in Rose-Hulman’s final tournament of the season.
