Deputies: Burglar returns to scene of crime while deputies are investigating

While investigating a burglary Saturday in the 7100 block of Cemetery Road, Warren County sheriff’s deputies identified a Bowling Green man as a suspect and found him breaking into that same house again hours later.

Deputies went to the home of Aaron H. Brown, 30, in an attempt to make contact with him and said they found a large quantity of stolen items including tools and a firearm, according to a release from the sheriff’s office. Deputies returned to the initial scene, where they said they found Brown burglarizing the home and an outbuilding again.

While deputies were trying to make an arrest, Brown left his vehicle while it was still running and in gear and it rolled into a deputy’s marked cruiser, resulting in minor damage to both vehicles, according to the release and sheriff’s office spokesman Stephen Harmon. No one was injured.

Deputies said Brown had controlled substances, drug paraphernalia and stolen property in his possession, according to the release.

Brown was charged with first-degree burglary, two counts of theft by unlawful taking over $500, theft by unlawful taking (firearm), three counts of second-degree criminal mischief, second-degree burglary, first degree possession of a controlled substance, possession of a drug paraphernalia and was additionally served with a failure to appear citation. He is lodged in the Warren County Regional Jail in lieu of a $6,000 cash bond.

Injury accident — A Russellville woman was injured Wednesday after pulling a Mercury Grand Marquis into a driveway on Southland Drive and failing to put the car into park before exiting the vehicle.

As Thelma Grayson, 85, was attempting to get into the backseat so that someone else could drive, the car began rolling, according to a release from Russellville police. Grayson was knocked down by the back driver’s side door and dragged about 10 feet before the vehicle front tire struck her left foot. The vehicle then crossed Southwood Drive into a yard and struck a tree. 

Grayson was taken by ambulance to TriStar Regional Greenview Hospital. 

Fire — The Glasgow Fire Department responded at 4:11 p.m. Sunday to a small laundry fire at a nursing home.

Firefighters were called to NHC Healthcare, 109 Homewood Boulevard, for the odor of smoke. Before GFD arrival, the staff had located a load of smoldering towels in a dryer and removed them from the building. Firefighters extinguished the towels. No one was injured.
