“It’ll be a good variety of music. The WKU strings program teaches young children to play violin using the Suzuki method,” said Marie Meszaros, whose mother, Mary Jane, owns the shop. “They develop an ear for music more so than just reading lines of music.”

It will also feature rare Tanzanian chocolate and violin-shaped chocolates. Ten percent of sales will be used to help send a professor and teaching student to Moshi, Tanzania, to teach children to play stringed instruments. They will also take donations of money and used classical stringed instruments such as violins, violas and cellos.

“They will teach children who normally don’t have the opportunity and can’t afford instruments. The arts are a way to develop hope and a sense of confidence in themselves,” Meszaros said. “I think it will help children a lot in their personal life. It’s helped my children. It’s been a positive thing for my kids.”
