Glasgow grad Ray hits first career homer for Campbellsville on Senior Day

Campbellsville University senior Shelby Ray (Glasgow Class of 2012) picked the perfect day to notch her first career home run, connecting on the Tigers’ Senior Day on Saturday against University of the Cumberlands at Veterans Memorial Park.
Ray’s home run, a solo blast, came in the second game of a doubleheader and helped the Tigers pick up a 3-0 victory. Ray also scored two runs in that game.
In the opener, Ray also drove in a run and scored another. Campbellsville sophomore Brittany Rippy (Allen County-Scottsville Class of 2013) chipped in with two runs scored and a stolen base as Campbellsville won, 7-3.
Campbellsville (35-7 overall, 19-1 Mid-South Conference) hosts UCC for another doubleheader on Sunday.

Georgetown senior Sandy Young (Allen County-Scottsville Class of 2012) totaled six hits in a doubleheader sweep of Cumberland (Tenn.) on Saturday in Lebanon, Tenn.
Young was 3 for 4 with two runs scored in Georgetown’s 4-1 win in Game 1. The Tigers’ Katie Young (Allen County-Scottsville Class of 2014) added a 2-for-3 effort with two doubles and three RBIs.
In Game 2, Sandy Young again went 3 for 4 with a triple and two RBIs. She also scored two runs. Katie Young added another double and an RBI, and also scored a run.
Georgetown (25-15, 16-6 Mid-South Conference) is back in action Tuesday with a home doubleheader against Shawnee State (Ohio).

Tennessee-Martin sophomore catcher Aeron Smith (Greenwood Class of 2014) helped the Skyhawks salvage a doubleheader split with Tennessee Tech on Saturday at Betty Giles Field in Martin, Tenn.
After dropping the opener, UT Martin evened the slate with 5-3 win in the nightcap. Smith gave the Skyhawks the lead for good with a two-run single in the bottom of the third inning.
UT Martin (22-16, 7-5 Ohio Valley Conference) is back in action Sunday with a home doubleheader against OVC rival Jacksonville State (Ala.).

Saint Catharine College sophomore Lynsie Clark (Butler County Class of 2014) had a solid day in the Patriots’ home doubleheader against Mid-South Conference rival Pikeville at Salt River Electric Field on Saturday.
Clark was 1 for 3 in the Patriots’ 8-7 win in the opener, then was 1 for 4 with two RBIs in Saint Catharine’s 8-7 loss in the nightcap.
Saint Catharine (19-25, 5-15 Mid-South) will host Pikeville in another home doubleheader on Sunday.

Kentucky Wesleyan senior Jeremy Cline (Warren Central Class of 2011) helped the Panthers sweep a home doubleheader against visiting Davis & Elkins (W.Va.) on Saturday at Panther Park in Owensboro.
Cline, the designated hitter in both games, was 3 for 4 with a double and an RBI in the opener. He also scored a run as KWC picked up a 10-6 victory.
Cline added a 1-for-3 effort and scored a run in the Panthers’ 10-2 Game 2 win.
Kentucky Wesleyan (18-10, 9-1 Great Midwest Athletic Conference) hosts Davis & Elkins in another doubleheader on Sunday.

Campbellsville freshman Kylie Withrow (Barren County Class of 2015) turned in a top-10 performance in the opening round of the University of Pikeville Spring Invitational on Saturday at StoneCrest Golf Club in Prestonsburg.
Withrow fired an opening-round 86 to forge a four-way tie for ninth.
Campbellsville built a 16-stroke lead on Day 1 of the tournament, firing a combined 315. The final round of the tournament is Sunday.
