Van Meter’s solid round helps Racers start quick in Rebel Intercollegiate

Murray State junior golfer Jacklyn Van Meter (South Warren Class of 2013) fired a one-over-par 73 to help the Racers to a tie for fourth place in the team standings Friday following the opening day of the Rebel Intercollegiate golf tournament in Oxford, Miss.
Van Meter turned in the second-lowest score among Murray State golfers and is in eighth place individually after Friday’s first round. Murray State, with a combined 303, is tied with host Ole Miss for fourth place. Troy (297) leads the field, which also includes Western Kentucky (tied for 11th).
Play continues Saturday on the par-72, 6,323-yard Old Miss Golf Club course.
Murray State will be paired with Ole Miss and Memphis in the second round of the tournament.
