Butler County grad Clark continues power surge for Saint Catharine softball team

Saint Catharine College sophomore second baseman Lynsie Clark (Butler County Class of 2014) continued her power surge with another home run on Friday.

Clark connected for a solo shot in the second inning Friday on the road at Cumberland (Tenn.). The home run, Clark’s fourth this season, was to center field. It wasn’t enough to prevent a 6-3 loss for the Patriots.

In Game 2 of the doubleheader, Clark was 2 for 2 with a double but Saint Catharine lost, 8-4.

Saint Catharine (17-21 overall, 3-11 in Mid-South Conference) will face off against Cumberland in another doubleheader on Saturday in Lebanon, Tenn.

Georgetown’s softball team came up short in both games of a doubleheader against Mid-South Conference rival Lindsey Wilson on Friday, but the Tigers’ Sandy and Katie Young pulled off a nifty bit of base running in the second game.

Sandy Young (Allen County-Scottsville Class of 2012) stole home in the fifth inning, while Katie Young (Allen County-Scottsville Class of 2014) swiped second on the same play for a double steal. It was part of a four-run inning for Georgetown, but the Tigers eventually came up short in a 10-9 loss in the nightcap.

In the opener, a 9-0 win for Lindsey Wilson, Sandy Young had a single and another stolen base.

Georgetown (19-13, 8-4 Mid-South) will face off against Lindsey Wilson (26-10, 11-3 Mid-South) in another doubleheader Saturday in Columbia.

Kentucky Wesleyan senior Jeremy Cline (Warren Central Class of 2011) helped the Panthers notch a doubleheader sweep against Great Midwest Athletic Conference rival Salem International (W.Va.) on Friday at Panther Park in Owensboro.

Cline tallied an RBI in each of KWC’s victories – a 12-4 win in the opener and a 8-2 decision in the nightcap. 

Kentucky Wesleyan (14-10, 5-1 G-MAC) hosts Salem International for another doubleheader on Saturday.
