Vaughan, Halcomb help Southeastern Illinois sweep doubleheader

A few baseball notes:
• Southeastern Illinois College sophomore right-hander Jacob Vaughan (South Warren Class of 2012) started and picked up the win in the second game of a doubleheader sweep against Morthland College (Ill.) on Wednesday. Vaughan worked four innings, allowing one earned run on two hits and a walk while striking out three to pick up the win.
In the opening game against Morthland, Southeastern Illinois freshman outfielder John Halcomb (Greenwood Class of 2015) was 1 for 5 with an RBI double. He also scored two runs in the 14-2 victory.
• College of the Cumberlands junior right-hander Brantley Bray (Allen County-Scottsville Class of 2012) pitched two scoreless innings of relief in the Patriots’ 13-1 loss to Culver-Stockton (Mo.) on Wednesday.
• Ryan Hinkley (Glasgow Class of 2014) was 1 for 1 with an RBI for Olney Central College (Ill.) in Wednesday’s 17-2 win over Southeastern Community College-Whiteville (S.C.). Olney Central improved to 7-0 with the victory.
