Western Kentucky should have one future guard signed on the dotted line by the end of the week.

Three-star 2016 point guard TJ Howard told the Daily News he plans to officially sign with the Hilltoppers on Friday.

Wednesday is the first day of the November signing period, which is the first chance for 2016 prospects to sign a national letter of intent.

Howard is the only expected WKU signee as of now. WKU coach Ray Harper said in September that his staff would be selective with its 2016 recruiting with a strong nucleus returning for the 2016-17 campaign.

Howard verbally committed to the Tops last month from the Hilltopper Hysteria event at E.A. Diddle Arena.

He first garnered interest from WKU in July. He averaged 11.7 points, 4.3 rebounds, and four assists over three games for Stackhouse Elite at the Adidas Gauntlet Series Finale in Suwanee, Ga., in front of WKU assistant Chris Shumate.

But Howard said his relationship with Shumate goes back several years. The new WKU assistant first recruited Howard as a sophomore when he was on the staff at Southern Miss, then kept touch last year as an assistant at Tennessee.

Howard, who’s originally from North Gwinnett High School in Suwanee, will play at DME Academy in Daytona Beach, Fla.
