They can be purchased online on HOTEL INC’s website (hotelincbg.com) by clicking on the donate button, at the building on Boatlanding Road from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday through Friday or by mail to P.O. Box 1688, Bowling Green, KY 42102.

This is the second year for the event that was created to help the nonprofit raise funds for its new food pantry that opened Aug 19. People can benefit from the food pantry nine times a year. They can shop once a month for three months in a row, but then must wait a month before using it again.

Because of its success last year, HOTEL INC decided to hold the fundraiser again to help pay off the debt of the building and help fund grants for families in need.

A group of volunteers formed the committee for the event and named it after the Bible scripture Matthew 25:35 – “For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in.” Office manager and volunteer coordinator Beth Carroll said there were two main reasons the organization created this event.

“One was again to get our name out there so more people can recognize (the organization) and to raise funds,” Carroll said.

Between ticket and auction sales, the event made more than $20,000 last year. This year, items for the silent and live auction include jewelry, Disney World tickets, Western Kentucky University autographed memorabilia, vacation trips, local art and more.

Carroll said one of the biggest auction item last year was a quilt made by the nonprofit’s peacemakers, who volunteer to make quilts for the homeless.

The event will include a meal prepared by Home Cafe & Marketplace chef Josh Poling and music provided by pianist Misty Butler.

Hotel INC is a faith-based nonprofit that provides help with meal planning, budgeting and financial assistance to break the cycle of poverty and homelessness.
