Virgie Ruth (Price) Wheeler

Virgie Ruth (Price) Wheeler, 91, of Bowling Green, died Oct. 6, 2015, at her residence. She was a daughter of the late Virgil Clarence and Mollie Gertrude Sledge Price.

Mrs. Wheeler was a retired mail carrier with more than 20 years of service. She was a lifetime member of Providence Knob Baptist Church, where she served as Sunday school secretary and church clerk and received the Lifetime Service Award in 2007.

Survivors include her husband of 69 years, John B. Wheeler; four sons, Fred Wheeler (Brenda), J.B. Wheeler Jr. (Vickie) of Rockfield, David Wheeler (Jennifer) of Rockfield and Jack Wheeler of Hopkinsville; a daughter, Jane McGinnis (Leslie) of Bowling Green; a brother, James Price (Dixie) of Bowling Green; three sisters, Margaret Stahl of Bowling Green, Mabel Morehead (Roy) of Smiths Grove and Sylvia Easton (Julian) of Oakland; six grandchildren, Laura Towe (Aaron), Wayne Wheeler (Tina), Jamie Lay (Timmy), Jason McGinnis, Jared McGinnis (Ashley) and Jessica McGinnis Myers (Jimmy); two stepgrandchildren, Shannon Ward (Matt) and Travis Williams; and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by five sisters, Pearl Estes, Nellie Vance, Sarah Russ, Mae Jones and Louise Beals, and a brother, William “Buddy” Virgil Price.

Funeral is at 1 p.m. Friday at Johnson-Vaughn-Phelps Funeral Home, with burial in Fairview Cemetery. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and begins at 9 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
