Western Kentucky has produced an ESPN highlight for the first time this season – for a long snapper trick shot?
WKU redshirt junior Nolan Dowling made SportsCenter’s Top 10 during the 10 p.m. program Wednesday with his long snap from just inside the Harbaugh Club – the interior room atop the new side of Houchens-Smith Stadium – down across the stands and into a large red trash can on the field.

WKU quarterback Nelson Fishback and manager Max Winebrenner posted videos to Twitter on Wednesday of Dowling, joined by several other Topper quarterbacks and specialists, as he completed the feat, which ranked 10th on SportsCenter’s list.
Fishback and others sitting up top outside the Harbaugh Club door go nuts after the make. Winebrenner posted a slow-motion video from field level.
ESPN contacted both by Twitter to request use of the videos, which appeared during the Top 10 segment.
Before Dowling stole the show, WKU’s quarterbacks were participating in a more conventional drill that involved taking snaps, dropping back and trying to throw the ball into the red can in the corner of the end zone.
But as we all know, long snappers are such attention hogs.
Dowling’s effort comes after the University of Buffalo’s specialists took to Twitter this week with videos of their long snapper knocking a Gatorade bottle off someone’s head with a snap in the locker room, and their punter putting a snap into a trash can on the field, much like Dowling.
