Western Kentucky got a visit at practice Wednesday from Cru Birdyshaw, a 6-foot-7, 289-pound offensive lineman in the 2016 class.

Birdyshaw, who plays for Walker (Ala.) High School, is verbally committed to Southern Miss and rated a two-star prospect by Scout.

According to Rivals, Birdyshaw also has offers from Louisville, Arkansas State, Middle Tennessee, Troy and Furman. He committed to Southern Miss in April.

The Hilltoppers were missing an offensive lineman on the current roster Wednesday, with redshirt junior Matt Nord not practicing.

The 6-6, 310-pound Nord was at WKU’s second practice Monday in a walking boot and using a knee scooter. Those were precautionary measures, per WKU.

Nord is one of the candidates to replace now-graduated Cameron Clemmons at right tackle.
