Vivian Wendt, 83, of Bowling Green, passed away Aug. 2, 2015, at her residence.
The Crab Orchard, Neb., native was the daughter of the late Glenn Shew and Maryetta Sovereign Shew. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Darlene Radmacher, and a brother, Lee Roy Shew.
Vivian was a retired photo department manager for Graham Photography and taught at Jolly Time Kindergarten in Bowling Green. She also taught in a one-room country school in Nebraska teaching grades 1-8 with additional tasks of starting the fire in the morning and carrying drinking water in for the children. She was a member of State Street United Methodist Church, a member of the Pathfinders Sunday school class, a member of the Mayme Lou Sledge Circle and the Rebecca Lodge.
Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Donald Wendt of Bowling Green; son Stephen Donald Wendt of Bloomington, Ind.; daughter Cynthia Sue Wendt Smith (Kenneth) of Bowling Green; sisters Irene Thies of Kearney, Neb., and Mary Busch of Schaumburg, Ill.; granddaughter Jaclyn Lauderback (Jason) of Naperville, Ill.; great-grandchildren Chloe and Parker; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral is at 11 a.m. Thursday at State Street United Methodist Church, with burial in Fairview Cemetery. Visitation is from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at J.C. Kirby & Son, Lovers Lane chapel, and begins at 10 a.m. Thursday at the church.
