Joseph Patton Hite

Joseph Patton Hite, 85, of Scottsville, passed away June 1, 2015, at the Scottsville Medical Center.

He was born June 26, 1929, in Stanton, Va., to the late Finley and Bertie (Berry) Hite. He served in the U.S. Air Force and attended Nashville Broadcasting School. He went on to become a broadcaster and journalist, later becoming owner of WLCK radio station in Scottsville, and most recently a writer for the Citizen Times.

He is survived by a son, Jody Hite and wife Louella of Scottsville; two daughters, Pam Blankenship and husband Dwight of Scottsville, and Joy Miller and husband Jeff of Bowling Green; three sisters, Esther See of Waynesboro, Va., Earleen Fields of Afton, Va., and Sue McGann of Nellysford, Va.; and six grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Edna (Wall) Hite, and two sisters, Maebelle Hite and Betty Kidd.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Strode Funeral Home in Scottsville, with burial in Crescent Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday and at 7:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
