Ray Harper may be confident with his recruiting haul so far, but he’s not satisfied.
The Western Kentucky coach said Monday that the Hilltoppers will continue to pursue more prospects over the next month as the spring signing period begins Wednesday.

“Now it’s about some final decisions,” Harper said. “We could quit right now and be OK, but we’re not. We’ve got some other things that we’ll probably bring in. Once it’s complete, I can tell you 100 percent, but where we are today and where we are with some kids, I’m really excited. I think we can do some things here over the next three or four weeks.”
WKU has three signed guards in freshmen Chris McNeal and Marlon Hunter, along with junior-college All-American Fredrick Edmond.
It also has verbal commitments from Illinois graduate transfer Aaron Cosby and JUCO forward Phabian Glasco, but Harper can’t comment on those two until they’ve officially signed.
Cosby can’t sign any papers until he graduates from Illinois this summer. Glasco told the Daily News he’ll sign with WKU on Friday.
Asked what he’s looking for this spring, Harper answered “obviously athletes.”
“We felt like we needed some backcourt help, and I think we’ve addressed that,” Harper said. “Athletes – that’s what we’re looking for. I like length. I like athleticism. I think we’re on the right track to finding those guys.”

With plenty of backcourt help on the way, WKU’s biggest priority going forward would likely be more help in the post.
Harper must help replace four-year starter George Fant, but he said he plans to do so with frontcourt players who can get up and down the court.
“I don’t do well with what I would call a plodder, because we want to be able to change ends of the floor, from offense to defense and defense to offense,” Harper said. “(Center Ben Lawson), for example, he’s 7-1, but he’s an athlete. He can run, he can jump. Those are the kinds of guys who will do well within our system.”
