Police check 3 burglaries, false alarms

Three burglaries were reported this morning at Bowling Green eateries, Bowling Green Police Department spokesman Officer Ronnie Ward said.

The first call came in at 5:36 a.m. at Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers, 2940 Scottsville Road. The second call was at 6:30 a.m. at Kyoto Gardens, 760 Campbell Lane No. 110. The third call came in at 7:17 a.m. at Baskin Robbins Ice Cream, 1705 U.S. 31-W By-Pass.

Police reports were not yet filed this morning. No other details were available.

At 10 a.m., police were on the scene at Marti & Liz Shoes, 1268 Campbell Lane, where employees reported that the cash register had been tampered with prior to the store opening today, Ward said. 

Due to storms setting off burglar alarms, police responded to 16 false alarms between the overnight hours last night and early morning hours this morning, Ward said.

No arrests have been made in the break-ins.

Attempted pharmacy burglary — A man used a sledgehammer to attempt to break in the Kroger Pharmacy drive-through window Monday at 350 U.S. 31-W By-Pass.

A loss prevention associate told police the man first came inside and stole a box of latex gloves, then went outside and began smashing the window with the sledgehammer, according to police records.

The would-be burglar was unable to gain access. He was between 5 feet 10 inches and 6 feet tall, weighs 150 and 180 pounds and has short brown hair. He was wearing a black hooded rain coat with reflective strips on each wrist. He also appeared to be wearing khaki or gray pants.

Police have not yet identified the man.
