UPDATE: Former Western Kentucky guard Ayinde Sprewell contacted me Wednesday night to tell me he’s not headed to NAIA program William Penn, as reported earlier in the day by the Twitter account Verbal Commits.

Sprewell told me he hasn’t picked a new school yet.

The junior requested his release from WKU in December, citing a desire for more playing time.

The 6-foot-3 junior-college product appeared in three games for the Hilltoppers, averaging 0.3 points and 1.7 rebounds.

Sprewell averaged 15.1 points and eight rebounds per game in 2013-14 at Daytona State College.
