Western Kentucky held its third practice of the bowl season Saturday morning at Houchens-Smith Stadium. Comments about it here from coach Jeff Brohm.

Balance of recruiting: “We’ve hit the road and we’ve got a lot of work done the last couple weeks – and even before that. We’re fairly far along. We’ve had good success, in our opinion, so far. We like a lot of guys we’ve had. We’ve got to fill in a few needs here and there, but it’s gone very well and the coaches have done a good job. Looking forward to getting them all here on campus.”
Mid-year enrollees: “Yeah we want to try to fill a few immediate needs that we think we have. That’s what we’re looking at doing right now.
“It’s important to get guys in that are ready to go and also get younger guys in and develop them and get them ready to go down the line. But we do need help at a few positions so we’re looking forward to trying to fill those spots.”
UAB: “It’s unfortunate. And obviously when it happened everyone was disappointed – you don’t like to see that happen. But it did.
“So I think now you just got to move on. All the players there will have success somewhere else, get a chance to hopefully play somewhere else and experience a different college atmosphere.
“But you never want to see it. But it did happen. You just move on from it, you try to learn from it at other programs and make sure it doesn’t happen to you.”
Bahamas on Thursday: “I wish I could’ve enjoyed it a little more than I did. It’s a lot of time on the plane coming back and forth. The little bit I was there, it’s a beautiful place. They definitely call it Paradise Island for a reason. It’s just an outstanding resort.
“I think all the players and administration and families and fans will love being there. It’s just a beautiful place. That, combined with getting ready to play an exciting bowl game, first time in that destination, it’s going to be a lot of fun.”
The first three days of bowl practice: “You know what? I think they’ve practiced well. We gave ‘em a little time off to take care of their finals and I think things have gone pretty well. They’ve been pretty fresh this week, they’ve had a little bit of bounce to their step, they’re ready to get out on the field.
“We’re gonna give ‘em a couple days off here again, and then we’ll start up a normal practice week coming up. I think they’re looking forward to it and they’re definitely enjoying being out here longer and getting a chance to compete. Any time you get a chance to play in a destination like this, they’re definitely fired up about it.”
