Mrs. Sarah C. Ragland, 87, of Bowling Green, died Dec. 7, 2014, at The Medical Center at Bowling Green.
The Warren County native was a member of First Baptist Rockfield Church, where she served as president of Pastors Aid Auxiliary, senior choir and church mother. She provided years of service as an employee of Cutler-Hammer, Link (Drackett) and Warren Central High School. Sarah was an avid reader, loved both crossword and jigsaw puzzles, loved playing bingo, loved holidays and made a slap-somebody macaroni and cheese. Her joys, while many, were her grandchildren, traveling to the island of Okinawa and helping to raise her siblings.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred “Cliff” Ragland; parents Revely and Lavenia Hawkins-Smith; and siblings Naomi (Pete) Potter, Ida Marie King, Roger Smith, Robert (Elizabeth) Smith, David Smith, Wayon Smith and Ronald Smith.
She is survived by her daughters, Beverly (Dareld) Allen of Bowling Green, Antoinette Hooks of Bowling Green and Dorinda Ragland of Manchester, Conn.; sisters Norma (John) Byrd of Bowling Green, Dora (Albert) Stafford of Louisville and Anetta (William) Proctor of Jeffersonville, Ind.; brother Joseph (Lorraine) Smith of Chicago; grandchildren Julius, Anthony, Reuben and Rebekah; great-grandchildren Deidre, Cotis, Breja, Taygen and Khaleela; sisters-in-law Zetherine and Nedra Smith; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Services will be at noon Saturday at First Baptist Rockfield Church in Rockfield. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Burnam & Son Mortuary Inc, 201 Center St., Bowling Green. Interment is in First Baptist Rockfield Church Cemetery.
