Amy Christine Dearing Carlock

Amy Christine Dearing Carlock, 91, of Bowling Green, went to be with the Lord at 4:16 a.m. April 3, 2014, at the Hospice House of Southern Kentucky. 

She was born May 26, 1922, in Boyce to the late John Henry and Portie Lightfoot Dearing. She was the widow of J.C. Carlock. She also was preceded in death by her half-brothers and half-sisters. 

She was a graduate of Alvaton High School, class of 1940. She has been a member of Mount Lebanon Missionary Baptist Church – where she was saved as a young girl – for more than 80 years. She was there when the church doors were open. She was devoted to her family and her church.

She worked for the Bowling Green City Schools in the cafeteria at T.C. Cherry School for 27 years. She was also an advice columnist for the Franklin Favorite Newspaper when she was a young woman.

Survivors include her daughter, Daphna Carlock Henson and her husband, Randall, of Boyce; a son, Damon Carlock and his wife, Kim, of Bowling Green; five grandchildren, Marlee Henson Boenig and her husband, Ray, Ralna Henson Saxton and her husband, Michael, Kyle D. Carlock and his wife, Tabitha, Amy D. Carlock Davis and her husband, Adam, and John Casey Carlock; stepgrandson, Christopher K. Haisley; stepgreat-granddaughters, Caitlyn and Meaghan Boenig; great-grandsons, Riley Saxton, Dylan and Ethan Davis; great-granddaughter, Maddi Kate Davis, all of Bowling Green; her brother-in-law, Doris Carlock of Bowling Green; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Visitation will be noon to 8 p.m. Saturday at J.C. Kirby and Son, Broadway Avenue chapel, and 1 p.m. to service time Sunday at Mount Lebanon Missionary Baptist Church. Funeral service will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the church, with burial in the church cemetery.
