School boards approve calendars for 2014-15

School boards for the Warren County Public Schools and Bowling Green Independent School District approved calendars Monday for the 2014-15 school year.
The Warren County board approved a calendar that calls for the school year to begin Aug. 6 and end May 20, 2015. The calendar, which has 175 instructional days, includes a one-week fall break Oct. 6-10, a two-week holiday break from Dec. 22, 2014, to Jan. 2, 2015, and a one-week spring break April 6-10, 2015. School is also out April 3, 2015, for Good Friday, effectively extending the spring break, county spokesman Don Sergent said in an email.
Warren County schools will not be in session Nov. 26-28 for Thanksgiving break. Other days school will not be in session include Sept. 1 for Labor Day, Nov. 4 for professional development, Jan. 19, 2015, for Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Feb. 16, 2015, for Presidents Day, March 19-20, 2015, for professional development and May 19, 2015, for Election Day, Sergent said. Possible make-up days for weather cancellations are Feb. 16, 2015, March 19, 2015, March 20, 2015, and April 3, 2015.
The Bowling Green board also approved its 2014-15 school calendar at its Monday meeting.
School begins Aug. 6 and ends May 21, 2015. There are also 175 instructional days and breaks Oct. 6-10, Nov. 26-28, Dec. 22, 2014, through Jan. 2, 2015, and April 6-10, 2015. There is also no school for Election Day on May 19, 2015. Holidays include Sept. 1 for Labor Day, Nov. 27 for Thanksgiving, Jan. 19, 2015, for Martin Luther King Jr. Day and Feb. 16, 2015, for Presidents Day. The city schools’ calendar noted that Feb. 16, 2015, March 12, 2015, March 13, 2015, and/or May 22, 2015, may be used for make-up days.
