Villatoro a ‘rock’ for Purples

The Bowling Green boys’ soccer team often looks to Felix Villatoro for a spark, and the senior forward delivered Tuesday.
Villatoro scored a goal and dished two assists in the Purples’ 6-0 win over visiting South Warren.
Villatoro has helped the Purples to a 15-1 record and an 8-0 mark against District 14 foes.
“He’s full of heart and has a huge motor,” BGHS coach Craig Widener said. “When we need somebody to get us fired up, we can always count on him. He’s that rock. He’s a leader.”
Villatoro got the Purples going Tuesday when he scored the game’s first goal in the 27th after getting behind a pair of South Warren defenders for a breakaway goal.
He then contributed second-half assists to goals by Exodus Bargblor and David Mason.
Along with being a team leader, Villatoro is among Bowling Green’s top offensive players. He now has 11 goals and eight assists this season, but he doesn’t see himself as anything special.
“I just see myself as another player,” Villatoro said. “I just try and do my best every single day.”
Villatoro and the Purples visit Henderson County at 12:30 p.m. Saturday.
