Hinkley helps GHS in win

Glasgow High School has a dynamic duo in the backfield in 2013, but if senior quarterback Ryan Hinkley plays to the level he played Saturday in the Scotties’ season debut, GHS could be making another deep run in the Class 2A state playoffs.
Hinkley threw for touchdown passes of 33, 7 and 30 yards in Glasgow’s 48-0 win over Hart County, the team’s fifth straight regular-season win and 27th regular-season win in the program’s past 30 tries.
“Coming off of last year’s loss (in the playoffs), that was a tough one for us seniors,” Hinkley said. “That was kind of our main part of the game, coming out hot, not really having any mistakes. I mean, it’s the first game, you’re going to have some, but we just tried to go with the flow of things.”
Hinkley and the Scotties saw their season end in the third round of the Class 2A state playoffs last season after a 10-2 loss to DeSales. The senior quarterback helped erase some of those memories by finding Connor Glass for a score seven minutes into Saturday’s win.
“It’s kind of my job to take some pressure off of them in our offense,” Hinkley said. “I’m just trying to complete 60 percent of my passes and help them.”
