Greenwood senior golfer John Glenn likes the results after making a commitment to golf.
Glenn posted a pair of top 10 finishes in two early tournaments after giving up lacrosse this spring.
He tied for seventh Aug. 2 in a season-opening event at Dale Hollow Lake State Resort Park, then followed it up with a 76 and tied for fifth at the Gators’ Indian Hills Golf Invitational.
Glenn also helped Greenwood to a 21 1/2-18 1/2 victory in the Greenwood-South Warren version of the Ryder Cup on Thursday at CrossWinds Golf Course
“I worked real hard all summer to get to where my golf game is better and hopefully get a college scholarship,” Glenn said. “It’s making a lot of difference.”
GHS coach Mike Newton also notices the difference. “It’s unbelievable,” he said. “John is 50 yards longer. He putts and chips better and he’s more consistent. It’s a remarkable change. He’s further along than I thought he would be at this point.”
Now Glenn would like to get the Gators a team victory. Greenwood finished in second in both events, returning to action Saturday at the Warren East Invitational at Shady Hollow Golf Course in Cub Run.
