The Bowling Green Hot Rods rallied back for a 6-5 walk-off win over Wisconsin on Thursday at Bowling Green Ballpark.
The Hot Rods blew a ninth inning lead before getting a two-run walk-off triple from Tommy Coyle. The hit came after Coyle was unable to get down a bunt to sacrifice runners over to second and third.
With the win BG moved to a season high 17 games over .500.
Here are post game comments from Coyle and manager Jared Sandberg
Sandberg
“That’s not necessarily how you draw it up. That game was so much up and down. I know Tommy was extremely disappointed to not get the bunt down, but I’m sure he’s ecstatic to get the walk-off triple.”
On starting pitcher Dylan Floro’s performance (a career high seven innings)
“He was able to pitch contact early to limit the pitch count, and he was able to get some swing and misses when he needed to. He was able to execute his fastball on both sides of the plate. His slider and change-up were below the barrels (of the bat). They were swing and miss pitches tonight. It was just a tremendous effort by him.”

“It’s definitely frustrating when you don’t get the bunt down twice. You kind of feel like you’ve let you team down a little bit, but you still have to go out there and compete. You still have one strike left. I just tried to battle. He was throwing some cutters and stuff that was breaking in. I was able to fight it off and lay it right on the line. I got lucky there.
“It’s a little embarrassing when you don’t get the bunt down, but it’s always nice when you make it up with a hit.”
on being able to fight back and win
“It’s definitely nice, especially knowing the pitchers threw well tonight and they battled. We wanted to put some runs up for them. It was a see-saw battle all night, so it was nice to come out on top.”
