Anthaline M. Smith

Anthaline M. Smith, 81, passed away peacefully on April 18, 2013, at the Hospice Care Center in Port Orange, Fla. She has lived in the Daytona Beach, Fla., area for 36 years.

She and her husband, William F. Smith Jr., owned and operated an oceanfront motel in Daytona Beach Shores until their retirement in 1986. Mrs. Smith was a licensed cosmetologist and owned a beauty shop and boutique in Richmond before moving to Florida.

Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Monday at Bloch Chapel in Fairview Cemetery No. 1. A private funeral will be held for family only. Johnson-Vaughn-Phelps Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, William F. Smith Jr.; her brother, Donald Baxter; and her sister, Lorene Alford. 

Survivors include four sons, William F. Smith III (Fonda), Steven B. Smith (Betty), Kenneth W. Smith (Debbie) and Christopher L. Smith; two granddaughters, Tina L. Alcindor (Al) and Lisa Sowers (Scott); a great-granddaughter, Sarah Alcindor; three great-grandsons, Ben Sowers, Matthew Sowers and C.J. Alcindor; one brother, Raymond Baxter of Louisville; one sister, Opal Davis of Bowling Green; and many loving nieces and nephews and special sisters-in-law.
