The WKU Department of Theatre & Dance Studio Series will present the Irish play Lovers March 25-26.
The play follows the story of two teenagers who are preparing for their exams. Through their conversation, we learn about the situation they are facing and the possibilities ahead of them. The play allows you to draw your own conclusions about their situation.
Although Lovers was written in 1967, director Lusie Cuskey, a senior from Louisville, felt that it was relevant today given the growing obsession with social media. “It’s really easy to pass along news stories without ever being invested in them, or dealing with the reality that people in the news are real PEOPLE,” said Cuskey. “I think it reminds us that every story is worth telling, that lives that seem insignificant can be worthy of attention is always a welcome one, especially for people who are desperately struggling to find their own significance.”
Lovers plays at 8 p.m. March 25 and 26 in the Lab Theatre in Gordon Wilson Hall on the WKU campus. All tickets are $5 and may be purchased online at wku.showare.com or by calling (270) 745-3121.
More than 15,000 people were entertained by the WKU Department of Theatre & Dance last year.
