Stephen M. Adams, 62, of Scottsville, died at 12:44 a.m. Tuesday, March 19, 2013, at his residence.
The Anderson, Ind., native was a retired employee of General Motors after 35 1/2 years of service, a former surveyor for the state of Indiana, a former driller for Rio Grande Drilling and Exxon Drilling in Texas, a member of Liberty Missionary Baptist Church and UAW Local No. 2164 and a graduate of Purdue University, where he received a degree in civil engineering. He was known as a prayer warrior in his community. He was a son of the late Preston Roy Adams and Mildred Kathleen Kuhn Adams.
He is survived by his wife, Rae Del Adams of Scottsville; two daughters, Rischell Rae Redman and her husband, Michael, of Coloma, Mich., and Stacie Lynn Dunn and her husband, Jeff, of Glendale; a son, Stephen Michael Adams II and his fiancee, Beatriz Martinez, of Paw Paw, Mich.; a brother, Richard Lee Adams and his wife, Pam, Alexandria, Ind.; 11 grandchildren, Amber Beeman, Alyssa Beeman, Kelsey Sample, Sydney Sample, Reese Sample, Kevin Hughes and his wife, Courtney, Stephanie Hughes, Jessica Darst and her husband, Chris, Devon Frank and her husband, Chad, Trenton Adams and Megan Adams; and five great-grandchildren, Aime Darst, Aaron Darst, Alice Darst, Brylie Frank and Chase Frank. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Deuce Dunn; a brother, David Wayne Adams; and a sister, Barbara Kay Holding.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Goad Funeral Home, with Bro. Mike Johns officiating. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today and after 7 a.m. Thursday until funeral time. Cremation will follow.
