The art of Mark Griffin will be displayed in the Porter Café at the Main Library starting April 3.

“Astigmatism and floaters affect the way I literally look at the world, sometimes in a hallucinatory way,” says Griffin. In an attempt to photograph what he sees, Griffin has experiments cameras. Such endeavors have allowed him to create his own definition of photography and what vision means.

Mark Griffin is a librarian in Logan County as well as a writer and photographer. He is the co-creator Quake zine and has authored the nonfiction Stand There and Tremble: When the Night Riders Came to Russellville and the Night Warrior comic book. He is currently working on a biography on one of Kentucky’s most powerful kingmakers, Thomas S. Rhea. He has traveled to every state in the U.S., save for one, and has traveled Europe and Australia.

The work of Jeremy Baxter will be at the Bob Kirby Branch starting April 1.

Jeremy was born with disabilities related to development delay and did not walk or talk until he was four years old. He attended special education classes while in school but with the help of dedicated parents, he has been able to accomplish much. He trained at a studio in Louisville to teach art to day-center participants with disabilities and mentally fragile students. He has participated in many juried art shows with VSA Arts of KY and other organizations for people with disabilities. Jeremy lives in Franklin and has established Baxter’s Art Studio where he teaches art and does his own painting. Jeremy is a contract teacher for Community Education and volunteers at the Gallery on the Square and for the Friends of the Library in Franklin.

The Tony Wycihowski photography exhibit continues at the Smiths Grove Branch until April 27.
