Alice Ford Berkley Blair

Alice Ford Berkley Blair, 90, of Bowling Green, died Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013, at 10:50 a.m. at her residence.

She was born Sept. 24, 1922, in Grand Rapids, Mich., to the late Elmer Leroy Ford Sr. and Myrtle Presley Ford. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Arthur Irwin Berkley; two brothers, Elmer Leroy Ford Jr. and Harold Leroy Ford; a son, Lloyd Arthur Berkley, a daughter, Judy Garnet Berkley Barton; and a grandson, J. Herbert Blair Vance. She worked at Cutler Hammer and the Kentucky Colonel Restaurant. She was an amateur radio net operator, with numerous awards. She was also a former member of the Bowling Green-Warren County Rescue Squad. She was a longtime member of Glendale Baptist Church, where she taught The Compassion Sunday school class. She had a love for the outdoors and was an avid bird watcher.

She is survived by her husband of 54 years, William Leroy Blair; her daughter, Pamela Blair Wolfe and her husband, Duane, of Bowling Green; four sons, William N. “Bill” Berkley of Bowling Green, John David Berkley and his wife, Jo Ann, of Irving, Texas, Charles “Mickey” Berkley and his wife, Dianna, of Bowling Green, and Harold Leroy “Hal” Blair and his wife, Donna, of Bowling Green; 30 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Visitation is from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at J.C. Kirby and Son Broadway Chapel. The funeral is at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral chapel, with burial in the Mount Lebanon Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
