Dollar General is proud to recognize employee Tim Meador with a 2013 Serving Others award for his commitment to the company’s mission of “Serving Others.” Meador was recognized for his philanthropic and commitment to volunteerism with the Scottsville/Allen County Fire Department. He is an employee at the Scottsville distribution center.
In a special ceremony, Meador was presented the Serving Others award and to further recognize Meador’s volunteer work, Dollar General will present a $2,500 grant to the Scottsville/Allen County Fire Department on his behalf.
Meador donates at least 30 hours per week as a volunteer firefighter and also serves as an instructor to Scottsville and Cedar Springs Fire Departments. As a second-level EMT, he also uses his skills at fires and/or accidents/incidents he encounters and in several cases, Meador works with ambulance services when a patient needs to be transported to a regional hospital. Further, as the pastor for Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Meador assists community families in times of need, conducts hospital and nursing home visits and also handles all the business-related services for the church.
“Dollar General is proud of Tim’s commitment to building a stronger community through serving others,” said Denine Torr, Dollar General director of community initiatives. “We appreciate his volunteer efforts and the positive impact he has on the lives of others.”
Dollar General’s mission of “Serving Others” and the Serving Others award is presented to employees who live out this mission every day, both at work and in their personal lives. This year, 10 Dollar General employees were honored with the company’s Serving Others award.
